Clementine – Vienna

Clementine – Vienna

Clementine is the casual dining option in the Vienna’s Palais Coburg hotel. We’re not big fans of hotel restaurants but this one has a delightful ambiance in the hotel’s garden area. The big glass greenhouse in which the indoor dining is located is just about as pleasant as sitting out the garden and the better choice during late fall and winter. Although the a la carte menu for lunch and dinner and the breakfast combos are a bit pricey, ordering breakfast a la carte is a value. Two eggs scrambled with bacon and cheese is a value at just 7 euros.

La Sosta – Vienna

La Sosta – Vienna

La Sosta boasts a sleek, contemporary décor and simple, well-executed menu of appetizers, pasta dishes, pizza and short list of main course seafood and meat dishes, all at very reasonable prices. Service was spot-on. Pizza? Fresh ingredients, a perfect crust, slightly charred in a wood-burning oven. Best pizza we’ve had in Austria.

Ristorante Sole – Vienna

Ristorante Sole – Vienna

If you’re staying a few nights in Vienna and need a break from sausages, beer and schnitzel, why not try this first-class Italian ristorante. It tops anything in Rome or Milan for Italian cuisine. That’s a bold statement but I’ll stand by it. The pasta, pizza and fresh fish dishes (yes … they typically have Branzino) are all done right with the best ingredients.
