Aheste’s talented chefs elevate local cuisine to a higher level and beautifully plate and serve dishes. Despite the more unique menu and the higher level of presentation, the menu items are only nominally higher than similar high-end restaurants serving Turkish cuisine.
Nobu’s new restaurant in Istanbul continues the chain’s replication of its successful format offering Japanese fusion from renowned chef and restaurateur Nobuyuki Matsuhisa. A bit pricey by local standards but Nobu sets menu prices substantially the same from country to country, continent to continent. The chef’s signature dish, the black cod in miso is priced about the same in Istanbul as it is in Los Angeles (about US$40).
Accommodating about 25 diners in two small rooms. A sleek, contemporary décor sets the stage for Chef Gaël Orieux’s subdued approach. In a city where a burger, fries and drink can easily empty your pockets, the three-course set-price menu at lunch is one of the city’s best values.
Birdy Hamburgers offers juicy burgers in two small locations, both modestly but nicely decorated. No outdoor seating. Burgers are typically cooked. Staff at the counter not always attentive. More expensive than similar restaurants, but Birdy is the only viable choice in the 7th Arrondissement.
Meating Corner is a burger restaurant with two locations, one in Madeleine and another in the 4th, a block from Les Halles. Pleasant indoor and outdoor seating. More menu offerings than other hamburger restaurants, including quesadillas, salads and a grilled steak.
Belgian-based Manhattn’s hamburger restaurant is the city’s largest restaurant dedicated to burgers. Manhattn’s brings an edgy New York City attitude to the ambiance and food of the only chain-location in France. Great burgers, flamed-broiled. Twice-cooked Belgian fries and top-notch service. Our favorite burger in the city!
