1516 Brewing Company is a pub-like bar and restaurant offering quality craft beer on tap and a mix of sandwiches, burgers, Texas-style BBQ, salads and modern takes on Austrian classics, including sausages and schnitzel. The beer is food. The staff competent and friendly. This, for our money, is the best watering hole in Vienna.
Weinschenke, a small chain of burger uber-casual burger restaurants, offers a range of well-prepared burgers and locally crafted beers. Burgers are served on gluten-free corn meal buns. Condiments are fresh. A good option with several locations. Likely one close to you.
Le Salzgries Paris is Vienna’s best, and arguably only, French dining experience. The menu is seafood-centric but offers other classic French dishes as well, including escargot, a foie gras terrine and a variety of French pastries and desserts, including a perfectly executed chocolate soufflé. Ambience is upscale but unassuming and comfortable. The service was spot-on and the most hospitable of any restaurant we visited in our five weeks in Vienna resulting in a rare 5-stars for service.
Zazatam is new on the dining scene in Vienna. It boasts a sleek and sexy décor with the most interesting and diverse international menu in Vienna. From tamales to a Smores marshmallow pie. And it’s surprisingly inexpensive. Undoubtedly the best value for upscale dining in Vienna.
Da Moritz offers pizza and pasta in a comfortable contemporary ambiance. Service and food are acceptable.
Ramasuri is popular with both locals and tourists for good reason … It’s the best spot in town for breakfast or brunch. Well … you might consider Cafe Drecshler over at Naschmarkt. Same owners. Same menu. Same friendly staff.
